Bio

Since its founding in 1837, DEPAUW UNIVERSITY has become recognized for its outstanding national and international academic programs, its rich history of leadership, its financial vitality, and its beautiful 115-acre campus, including the new $29 million Judson and Joyce Center for the Performing Arts. A private, four-year, co-educational university located in Greencastle, Indiana, DePauw is composed of the Asbury College of Liberal Arts and the School of Music, which have a combined enrollment of 2,300 students, representing 42 states and 34 nations.

The DEPAUW UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF MUSIC is committed to providing the best possible undergraduate music education in the most effective setting, so that each student has a chance to be heard. Founded in 1884, it is one of the first schools of music in the United States. Its 47 artist-faculty include specialists in voice, all orchestral and keyboard instruments, theory, history, composition, and music education.

DePauw School of Music is the first institution in the nation systemically dedicated to creating the 21st-Century Musician, a flexible and entrepreneurial musician who impacts communities in profound ways, and who lives a meaningful life while making a successful living. The 21st-Century Musician Initiative (21CM) produces the musician of the future instead of the past and represents a complete re-imagining of the modern music school.

The classical music world is changing, and the DePauw University School of Music is leading the way once again. Our small class sizes, our caring faculty and the absence of graduate students guarantee that students are heard from the beginning of their careers.
